On your first visit we will ask about your current problem and take a full case history, including past accidents. You will then be given an examination. For this, you may be asked to undress to your underwear and perform a simple series of movements. This enables us to assess your posture, mobility, muscle strength and nerve function. The osteopath will then use a highly developed sense of touch, called palpation, to locate problem areas. |

We may need to ask for additional investigations, such as x-rays or blood tests. Having completed the examination we can decide if your problem can be
treated by us and, if so, we will give you a description of what the problem
is and an indication of the amount of treatment needed. Osteopathy is
patient centred, which means the treatment is geared to you as an individual.
If we are not able to help you we may ask you to see your doctor or suggest
other treatments that could be helpful. |
